For Gumideck, we designed and developed a multilingual e-shop focused on selling terrace flooring and exterior surfaces, including the patented GUMI decking system, WPC composite boards, and accessories. The e-shop covers B2C sales for apartment and homeowners as well as B2B inquiries from construction firms, developers, and installers. In addition to the shopping process, we built an extensive educational section with installation guides, technical information, and references of completed projects, which assists customers in making informed decisions and at the same time boosts the SEO visibility of the e-shop.
(VÍZIA)
The goal was to create an e-shop that sells terrace systems effectively to end customers with small balconies as well as to construction professionals with projects of dozens of square meters. The website was to serve as both a sales tool and a technical manual. A customer arriving with an unclear idea of what type of terrace they need should leave with a clear plan and an order. A professional who already knows the system should find technical details and order materials in a matter of minutes.
(PROBLÉM)
E-shops for construction and outdoor products often fail in one of two areas. Either they are technically accurate but visually unappealing and difficult to navigate, or they look modern but lack the technical information that customers urgently need before making a purchase. In the case of terrace systems, this issue is even more pronounced because customers deal with material, dimensions, substrate type, assembly methods, and color choices simultaneously. We designed an e-shop where this information does not get lost in confusing subpages but is readily available right in the shopping process, at the moment customers need it.

(NÁŠ POSTUP)
The e-shop was designed with the understanding that a customer purchasing a terrace system needs much more information before buying than with a typical e-commerce product. Therefore, we linked product pages with installation procedures, types of substrates, technical specifications, and a FAQ section. We structured the product categorization according to material (wood vs. WPC), type of use (balcony, terrace, rooftop terrace, restaurant), and color variations. For larger projects, we implemented a budgeting calculator to estimate area and cost. The entire e-shop operates in multiple language versions (SK, CZ, PL, EN), as the brand operates in international markets.
(POTREBY UŽÍVATEĽA)
A homeowner needs to know what the terrace will look like, how much it will cost, and whether they can install it themselves. The gallery of completed projects will show real results. The calculator will provide an estimated price for their specific area. The installation guides will confirm that the patented GUMI system with rubber connectors can be handled without drilling and screwing. A developer or construction company needs technical specifications, information on testing under extreme conditions, and the ability to order larger quantities. For both, the website offers a journey from the first question to a completed order, supported by a multilingual version for the Slovak, Czech, Polish, and international markets.

(VÝZVY)
The biggest challenge was to connect a technically demanding product with a simple shopping experience. Terrace systems are not impulse purchases. Customers need to understand the differences between materials, correctly calculate area, choose a color, and determine whether the system works on their specific substrate. The e-shop must provide all of this information without overwhelming the visitor. We also addressed the technical aspect of multilingualism with local pricing and availability variations, the categorization of dozens of products with various parameters, and connecting product pages with educational content so that they support each other.
(USER CENTRIC)
The e-shop is designed for two distinct types of shopping behavior. An apartment owner addressing their balcony terrace for the first time needs guidance throughout the process. From selecting materials to understanding assembly, to calculating quantities, their journey includes educational sections, a gallery of completed projects, and a budgeting calculator. A construction professional or installer who knows the system wants to quickly find a specific product, check availability, and place an order. For them, navigation is simplified to direct access to the catalog with technical parameters. Both pathways exist in parallel and do not interfere with each other.
